About Jackie
I’ve drawn and painted since childhood and never stopped my pursuit of art. I’ve been fortunate enough to have lived from the East to the West coast, from Alaska to Florida, from the suburbs to a rural farm. Such exposure gives one an appreciation of the richness of culture and place. I was sidetracked with various jobs over the years but art is a vocation one can never lay down; it is a life pursuit.
After ten years in the Air Force as a medic and recruiter I did freelance commercial art work with brochures and advertising. I have been blessed to travel Europe, the Americas, and Asia. Studying the Masters in untold hours in some of the world’s finest museums is an education of its own. I worked in the airline industry in later years but continued to paint, and write.
My formal education included two plus years of college in Fine Arts at Southeastern Louisiana University and the University of North Texas. With the demands of raising a family I laid aside formal education and embarked on my own field of study to develop my skills. My art interests are as diverse as my background and I prefer not to limit my work within any one category.
Home is now Fredericksburg, Texas, an art centered community in south central Texas surrounded by the dramatic landscape of our beloved Hill Country.
I am represented by River's Edge Gallery (http://riversedgegallery.net/) in Kerrville, TX, and Red Stag Home (http://redstaghome.com), New Braunfels, TX.
Email about future workshops or home studio visits, by appointment. I am a member of the Texas Masters (texasmasters.com) and the Oil Painters of America (www.oilpaintersofamerica.com). I support the National Museum for Women in the Arts and the National Portrait Society of America to further the art of the portrait.
